Vista Alegre Rainhas de Portugal Vase – Queen Santa Isabel

A porcelain cachepot vase from the Rainhas de Portugal collection by Vista Alegre, dedicated to Rainha Santa Isabel, Queen of Portugal from 1282 to 1325, canonised in 1625, and celebrated for her devotion to peace and the poor. The legend of the Miracle of the Roses remains one of Portugal's most beloved stories. Designed by Hélia Aluai, the piece honours her through red and gold filigree-inspired decoration on fine white porcelain.

The Rainhas de Portugal collection pays homage to six queens from Portugal's history: Inês de Castro, Rainha Santa Isabel, D. Maria II, D. Amélia, D. Estefânia and D. Leonor. Complex figures portrayed with great sensitivity by designer Hélia Aluai, inspired by filigree, a typically Portuguese ornamental technique. The colours, red and gold, express the passion of these women and the cultural richness they evoke.
