Vista Alegre Rainhas de Portugal Vase – Queen D. Estefânia

A porcelain cachepot vase from the Rainhas de Portugal collection by Vista Alegre, dedicated to Queen D. Estefânia — Queen consort of Portugal from 1858 until her early death in 1861, remembered for her compassion and dedication to public health and education. Designed by Hélia Aluai, the piece renders her story through delicate red and gold filigree-inspired decoration on fine white porcelain.

The Rainhas de Portugal collection by Vista Alegre pays homage to six enchanting queens from Portugal's history — Inês de Castro, Rainha Santa Isabel, D. Maria II, D. Amélia, D. Estefânia and D. Leonor. Fascinating and complex figures portrayed with great sensitivity by designer Hélia Aluai, inspired by delicate filigree work, a typically Portuguese ornamental technique. The colours chosen — red and gold — express the passion associated with these women, as well as the cultural richness they evoke.
